Summer Travel 2017: Amritsar – A Divine Experience

19th May 2017: It was a Friday the start of a really long yet life changing journey for me. Started off from home at around 10:30 am. Had booked an Uber for the airport. Well, it was like 20 mins away from my home. But the excitement of starting the journey just made the wait easier. The first stop of your going-to-be-long trip was Amritsar. Amritsar, a historically rich city in the northwest of India founded by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das. Amritsar is since ages been a house to India’s holiest shrine and some really serene sights. So we boarded the flight from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 1:10 PM. You may ask why I left at 10:30. Hey, I live in Mumbai the traffic can just make me miss my flight. It was a Vistara flight (UK-735). I’d really like to appreciate the service and food provided on the flight. You Go Vistara! Reaching Amritsar at around 3:40. As soon as I got down from my flight my first reaction was “Damn, It is HOT!”. It was like about ...

Mumbai? How does it feel through the eyes of a Mumbaikar?

Photograph: Maciej It's said Bombay is not a city it's a feeling…. But our good friends at Shiv Sena just wanted it changed to Mumbai… Well, that's just another story, 'Mumbai' hasn’t changed… People are the same, food is the same… and Mumbai is still a feeling that's loved to be felt… So, you're here to see Mumbai through my eyes, right? If you’re a Mumbaikar ( As we call ourselves! ) you may pretty much relate with every small stuff I need to tell about the city. And if you’ve never been to Mumbai… I’m pretty sure you'll be able to experience the thrills it has to offer just by following along. Mumbai to a majority of you is the capital of the State of Maharashtra or just the financial capital of India, Mumbai boasts of a population of over 20 million with people from different parts of the world calling it their home, just like me… Well, you may see me mention "me" a lot… cause I'm honestly a self-obsessed person. Let’s se...

My Summer Travel Day 1: The Pink City, Jaipur : It was exhausting!

Jaipur, a place of some the most amazing architecture, unmatched tasty food and the birthplace of Bollywood's most amazing and versatile actor, Irfan Khan. Honestly I have visited Rajasthan four times before, but Jaipur had never been on my list of places to see. Why? Well Jaipur has always been a place I want to visit, it was just that I never got called by this Pink City to come and explore its beauty.

7 Jain Temples in India you must visit.

India is a land of many cultures, and true to this sentence, Indians have an extremely rich history of spirituality. Jainism is believed to have found its roots in India, and the magic that we can find at some of these beautiful temples is truly worth the travel.

Travel Diary: Sanjay Gandhi National Park

The Sanjay Gandhi National Park or Borivali Park whatever you wanna call it, is one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in the world. All because, it is spread across over 104 sq. km. and also because it  is the only park in the world located completely within a city limits, which is also rich in biodiversity.   To most Mumbaikars like me, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) brings back the old memories of our childhood when our parents would take us to the park on a Sunday for a jungle safari or just an excursion to the famed Kanheri Caves (Note: they are around 2400 years old!) and not to forget those amazing school picnics. Alas, as I've grown up to be a teen, and through these years, places such as these have only remained confined to my memories. A visit to the National Park on a Tuesday, as part of my college's Environmental Visit, was to me as much about going back and living those memories again. It was about exploring the lesser known areas of the pa...

Rajasthan Diaries: Udaipur City Palace

Udaipur is considered the romantic city of Rajasthan, and I have to say it was love at first sight when I visited this city the second time. The historical palaces, luxurious hotels, scenic sights along the lakes and much more exciting stuffs. This was my second visit to Udaipur, the last time I visited it I was too small to remember a-thing. But my second visit was indelible. With an aim to make it a visual delight for my family and of course me, I insisted on visiting the Udaipur City Palace.
