Best Holiday Destinations for February!

February, the shortest month of the year can also be the sweetest one, only if you know where to spend your time at.

In case you took your resolutions seriously after reading my past post, it’s time for a relaxing vacation to break up the remaining winter months. Whether you want to hit the slopes without the crowds, hit up a grand Carnival party or seek that perfect romantic escape for Valentine’s Day, these February vacations have it all.
Whatever your tastes, I have tried my best to provide you destinations right for you

Dolomites, Italy

Dolomiti Superski
February is the peak ski season in Europe, with the year’s best chances of great snow conditions(Though, I have no control over the weather!)

The Dolomites mountain range in northern Italy provides the perfect backdrop for a spectacular ski holiday. The Dolomites mountain range has been awarded the World Heritage Site status by UNESCO for its exceptional natural beauty.

There are two main ski areas here: Dolomiti Superski (dolomitisuperski.com) and Skirama Dolomiti (skirama.it).

Dolomiti Superski is the largest, with 1200km of ski runs that connect up 12 valleys, whereas the Skirama Dolomiti in the western Brenta Dolomites, with 360km of pistes reaches up to 3000m altitude.

Highlights include the famous Sella Ronda ski touring route, where skiers can spend a whole day circling the towering Sella massif.

Quebec City, Canada

Wanna visit Paris? But its heavy on your pockets? Don't worry! You can still enjoy a fabulous French vacation in historic Quebec City.

Located at the heart of French culture in North America, Quebec City celebrates its Winter Carnival in February...

The crown jewel of French Canada, Québec City is one of North America’s oldest and most magnificent settlements. Its picturesque Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, a living museum of narrow cobblestone streets, 17th- and 18th-century houses and soaring church spires, with the splendid Château Frontenac towering above it all. There’s more than a glimmer of Old Europe in its classic bistros, sidewalk cafes and manicured squares.

Hotel de Glace
For a vacation you really won’t forget, stay in the Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel), one of few in the world and it is only open from January through March.

Menton, France

While the temperatures might not invite frollicking in the Mediterranean, the clear blue skies and crisp February air is ripe for discovering the quieter side of the French Riviera with thinner crowds.

Menton, once known for its abundance of lemons, has a microclimate making it warmer than its surrounds, and while it may be less glamorous than its showy neighbours – Cannes, Nice and Monaco – it’s still got a lot to offer.

Musée Jean Cocteau Collection Séverin Wunderman
The stark, futuristic Musée Jean Cocteau Collection Séverin Wunderman opened recently, showing around 1500 of the artist’s works; the beautiful old town is crammed with pastel-coloured shuttered buildings and there’s even a Michelin-starred restaurant among its burgeoning dining scene.

February is the best time to visit for the quirky Fête du Citron (Lemon Festival), with sculptures and floats made from tonnes of lemons and oranges that make their way along the seafront. The festival runs from 13 February to 2 March.

Daytona Beach, Florida

Discover Daytona Beach, an iconic beach destination famous the world over. Enjoy family attractions along the boardwalk and pier, a wide variety of cultural venues and colourful culinary scene.

With 23 miles of coastline ideal for shelling, swimming and surfing, there is as much to do off the "World’s Most Famous Beach"  as on it.

Daytona Beach boasts accommodations for all lifestyles and budgets including resorts, B&Bs, hotels and everything in between.

Daytona International Speedway
Beat the spring break crowds by visiting Florida in February. The temperatures are comfortable and there is plenty to do: check out Bike Week or catch a NASCAR event during Speed Week. You’ll also be close to major attractions like the Kennedy Space Center.

Hawaii

There isn’t really a bad time to go to Hawaii, but for a Valentine’s Day getaway the sunsets, scenery and beaches you need to be here.

America’s tropical paradise, Hawaii is a group of islands, each with something special to offer a visitor. From the surfing on Oahu, to the wonders of Maui, to the beauty of Honolulu, to the hidden wonders on Lanai, Hawaii is the great tropical escape for those looking to stay within America. There are beautiful beaches, amazing jungles, monstrous waterfalls, excellent diving, and world-class waves. Hawaii is a great destination for honeymooners, surfers, and families.

While not thought of as a budget destination, there are plenty of budget options for people to choose from once you leave those resorts on Waikiki beach!

The weather is beautiful and it makes a great getaway for romance or for the entire family.

Travel Diary: Sanjay Gandhi National Park

The Sanjay Gandhi National Park or Borivali Park whatever you wanna call it, is one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in the world. All because, it is spread across over 104 sq. km. and also because it  is the only park in the world located completely within a city limits, which is also rich in biodiversity.   To most Mumbaikars like me, the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) brings back the old memories of our childhood when our parents would take us to the park on a Sunday for a jungle safari or just an excursion to the famed Kanheri Caves (Note: they are around 2400 years old!) and not to forget those amazing school picnics. Alas, as I've grown up to be a teen, and through these years, places such as these have only remained confined to my memories. A visit to the National Park on a Tuesday, as part of my college's Environmental Visit, was to me as much about going back and living those memories again. It was about exploring the lesser known areas of the pa...

What about traveling by yourself?

Traveling alone is a doubtful topic. Most of us have thought at least once about a trip by yourself. These fleeting thoughts are easily replaced with other ones in the dialogue with yourself because our mind faces some real and illusory obstacles. Let’s define these obstacles to see what prevents us from traveling alone. Maybe you will reconsider them and finally decide to travel with no companion. 1. Unhappy crew Socializing is vital for every human being. We want to share our most memorable experiences with our friends and family. The experiences may be both fun and stressful; furthermore, people behave differently in their comfort zone and in a new ambience. Consider the simple facts like chronic illnesses, daily routines, and tastes. As an example, my ex would look for organic color systems salons for her hair maintenance. The question is whether you go on with the distractors or not. You won’t find a hair salon in the mountains. Some medicines may be restricted in certain...
